.

I mentioned a while back, that my dad and I ordered computer mice from Amazon, with the only problem being the input plugs not corresponding with anything on either of our computers.

SOOOO.... we ordered some (whatever the fuck that ancient style plug is called)-to-USB adaptors for our mice, so we wouldn't have to spend more cash on new mice. This was a cheaper alternative, since we already HAVE two mice.

We got them in the mail today. I plugged my mouse into my adaptor, plugged it in and OH FUCKING SURPRISE, it doesn't fucking work. No tone to indicate something being plugged into the USB ports, nothing... the mouse lights up, but my laptop basically acts like nothing's plugged in. It doesn't fucking work. -_-

So... there's around $20 right down the fucking drain. At this point, I feel like just saying FUCK trying to get new mice, for a few months. We've already spent more on these than they're fucking worth.

Now, if you'll excuse me... I'm going to go back to resisting the urge to stomp this mouse to pieces on the carpet.

Okay, I didn't bring my laptop upstate, so I figured I'd be tech-free... But my dad's friend's wife offered a MacBook with ethernet to use... And I caved.

It's nice upstate. It's a little overcast, but the sun comes out of the clouds every now and then. And it feels good to get away. It's all trees and gravel road. Lol, to tell the truth, I get REALLY antsy up here after too long, but it's nice for a little while.

We went to go and get changed for swimming when we got to the house, and I went into my bag to get my bathing suit... And I forgot it. I remember wrapping it in a t-shirt, but I guess I didn't put the shirt in my bag. I was so aggravated, because all I wanted to do was get up here and jump in the lake and forget about stuff. For me, it's like not worth it to come if I can't go for a swim. My dad offered to drive me around in town to find one, but I didn't want to drive him crazy going from store to store because it takes me forever to find a good one... So in the end, I just said whatever, and dove off the dock in shorts and my Brandon Dubinsky shirt. So worth it.

It's definitely relaxing up here. We're going to grill chicken later and swim again tomorrow. And I've been playing with their new Tibetan Terrier, who is the SWEETEST!! I'm just trying to have a weekend where I don't go crazy and I can just kick back.

Some icons contain more than
one person specified on the left,
some also contain two or more
of the people on the left,
therefore there are less icons
than appearances.

just to clear that up. (:

credit for them would be freakin' awesome as usual. it took a lot more effort than usual to make all 66 of these because i have flu right now, so things are a lot more energy-sapping than usual. but i felt compelled to produce at least one post of some sort of substance before this week is over. so since my head is pounding, my throat is burning, i'm aching and i'm on fire; i'll post these and retire back to my couch.

So throughout all the transfer stuff, I've been trying to keep sane. I went to the movies three days in a row this week. Year One on Tuesday, Valentino: The Last Emperor on Wednesday, and Transformers yesterday. So now I'm all clear to see Bruno and soon... Harry Potter!! (P.S. David?! Zoe?!)

Year One was... A really weird movie-going experience. It wasn't funny. It wasn't stupid. The story wasn't bad... For me, there was just nothing to be felt from it. I walked out of it feeling kind of... Blank? Very odd. Valentino wasn't the most fulfilling movie experience, either, it was mostly about making dresses at his company and his partner he's been with for 45 years, and a big party they threw for him in Rome... Not very stimulating aside from the pretty dresses, and trust me, they were pretty dresses, and therefore, the movie was enjoyable... But Transformers was the one I liked the most. I thought some parts were really coolexcept, and cut for spoilers, )

.

Tomorrow, my dad is taking me and Corey (and Pepper) upstate to his friend's lake house overnight. I'm not bringing my laptop, and I probably won't get phone service, so I'll probably be deprived of technology... But hey, a break might de-stress me a little.

THEN NEW TRUE BLOOD ON SUNDAY. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

I said I'd try and keep this away from the emo as much as possible, but, well I'm in a bit of a funk, and it's kinda hard not to, ATM, so...I'm sorry. Feel free to scroll past, that's cool.

It was a mistake to wait as long as I did. To acquiesce to using Idaho as my backup plan. To actually think I could spend another two years here in the attempt at grad school. My friends have all left to: families, jobs, greater things, better places. I can't blame them, really. Choices out here are limited.

But it's not really the small-town feel that kills me, even if I thrived in Portland and loved the expansiveness of it all. Back to a town of 50,000 versus 3 million-plus. As stifling as that feels, it's not that. I grew up here, I'm used to that. It's the fact that I can't be myself. One: if you're not "straight," that's an automatic negative bias. We have a gay community around here, a small one, but this doesn't extend to girls in the bi or lesbian context. The "GLBT" community, if you can even call it that, is just as prejudiced and bullshit as the community they're trying to pull away from.

Oh, and make sure you're family lives above the poverty level. This is imperative for this town. Don't even act like you're poor, or you're automatic trailer-trash with no future.

And you can't be an artist, that makes you look like a lazy idiot who just wasted $40,000 in loans on a college degree that you'll never use. If I could at least pull a "I don't feel the need to explain my art to you, Warren," I'd be much happier. But we don't even get to that point in conversation. It's all about how much money you make, or aren't making, and just how soon you're going to get the book you're still working on published already, because it's got to be simple.

The only "art" they appreciate around here is shitty highschool HXC bands.

Whether or not mine is shitty, inaccurate, wrong, off, whatever, doesn't even really matter, because it wouldn't be given a chance or the light of day regardless. I'd at least like some kind of chance, even if it's to legitimately fail.

---
And just for you, anon from this morning, I haven't bothered to FLock this, because IDK if you're on my FL or not, but so you can revel in my mistakes and drama, have fun.
